Farid Mostafavi ( فرید مصطفوی ) is a screenwriter born on the 27 October 1954 in Tehran, Iran. He studied Economics at Tehran University and joined the Institute of Cinema and Television in 1979. He has a long career in both TV and cinema and is known for 'Under the City's Skin' (2001), 'Birthplace' (2009) and 'Mainline' (Khoon bazi) (2006), which received Crystal Simorgh awards at the Fajr Film Festival. In television he has worked as writer, co-producer and assistant director.

Under the Skin of the City is about that A valuable visual commentary on modern society, 'Under The Skin Of The City' follows one Iranian family in their eternal struggle to stay afloat financially and emotionally. Touba works hard at a textile factory to make ends meet during the day, returning in the evening to face the trials and tribulations of her family: her pregnant daughter who frequently suffers at the hands of her abusive husband, a son embroiled in radical politics, and another son who hopes to escape to Japan. In their fight for self-determination and independence, Touba and her family come to represent the plight of the working class in modern day Tehran. Women's Prison is about that Manijeh Hekmat's controversial film won awards at the Rotterdam and Fribourg film festivals. It tells the harrowing story of Mitra and Mrs Yousefi, two contrasting women on opposite sides of the prison system, during a two decade period starting in 1979. While prisoner Mitra and warden Mrs Yousefi start out feuding, the harsh conditions of the prison and the traumatic events which occur there eventually become larger than their rivalry, drawing them towards an unspoken friendship. A powerful drama with an extremely poignant ending. Motherland is about that Professor Snider has presented a theory claiming that turtles will go back to their birthplace after 30 years and his theory is pursued by Amirali. Amirali meets Marleneh, the professor's grandchild, and gets some documents and evidence regarding the theory which were gathered 30 years ago on Qeshm island. He sends the documents to his mother, Mrs. Sharifi, and after ensuring the results of the previous experiment, Mrs.Sharifi decides to send another generation of turtles to the sea; so she goes to Qeshm. Chocolate is about that Amin who is a famous actor, appears to be somehow far from his popularity, particularly because his emotional issues cause him to work less. But he tries hard to keep himself as a well-known actor. His old friend Jahan is looking after him. The last time Amin refers to Jahan is when he has an accident with a young cyclist. Autumn is about that Masoud wants to leave his wife Parvaneh and their daughter and go to Europe. But before that they going on a trip to see some of their relatives.
