The Sculptor is about that Farhad, an art teacher at one of the schools in Kerman who is also a sculptor, is arrested for his political activities against the authoritarian regime. Meanwhile, in the year 1963, when the events take place, it is announced that the Shah is planning to visit Kerman. The city authorities put pressure on Farrhad using his affection for his family, forcing him to create a statue of the Shah to secure his release from prison.
After his release, he faces a negative reaction from the people who are unaware that he created the statue on the recommendation of his group members as part of their fight against the Shah outside the prison. Unable to endure the situation, he eventually destroys the statue he created. Once again arrested and sentenced to execution, the Shah's visit is imminent, and authorities enter into negotiations with Farhad again. He conditions his cooperation on being alone during the restoration of the statue.
