Babak Jalali (born in 1978) is an Iranian-born film director, producer and writer based in London, Paris and Rome. After obtaining an MA in filmmaking from the London Film School in 2005, Jalali was selected in the 12th session of the Residence of the Cannes Film Festival in 2006/2007. Jalali's first short and graduation film Heydar, An Afghan in Tehran (2005) won the Best Student Short Prize at the 2005 New York City Short Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA in 2006.
