Late-shift taxi driver Ali works the mean streets of Tehran and in the process he meets an eclectic variety of people. Most notable is the lonely Leila whom he has to collect every night. With rumors of an upcoming earthquake spreading, the normally taciturn Ali slowly breaks his silence in Leila's presence. Behind banal conversations full of unfinished sentences, the protagonists’ pasts betray deep traumas which have deflected them from their original paths in life. With a nod to Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976), debut director Fardin Saheb Zamani’s weaves together a melancholy, disquieting drama about alienation and identity.
