Ebrahim Mokhtari's documentary provides insight into the life of Zinat, an inspirational woman who lives on the Island of Qeshm in the south of Iran. Zinat was the first woman from the island to remove the traditional facemask (Boregheh) put on by women when they are married, and worn for their whole lives. However, the film focuses largely on her social and political activities, as, determined to improve the living conditions of her fellow villagers, she presents herself as a candidate in the 1999 local elections. The film records the positive and negative reactions expressed by Zinat's visitors on the day of the election, which have particular emphasis on the subject of women's place in Iranian society.
