Based on Henning Mankell's Swedish play, this play tells the story of Hasse who is on the way to see his estranged mother for the first time in years. She is dying. A bus breakdown puts an end to his hopes for last-minute reconciliation but it affords him an opportunity to ponder the events that wrecked their relationship. Hasse explains that he fell under the influence of a manipulative kid called Swallow. Hasse and Swallow met on the threshold of another world as well as in the process of becoming adults. Hasse became reluctantly involved in Swallow’s thoughts and let himself be guided towards an outrageous action he does not want to perform. 'The Unscrupulous Murderer, Hasse Karlsson' is a tale of innocence lost.
