"South of Iran" is a documentary series showing Southern Iranian music, while explaining how it was influenced by various cultures throughout history. This final episode explores Zar music, which is played during special ceremonies that are held specifically for the treatment of sick people. As the patient listens to the music, constantly moving their body to the rhythm, it is believed the combined effects of music, movement and lyrics will ease their pain. Alongside footage of Zar music in action, this film also provides a history of its tradition.
