Born in Tehran in 1976, Mehdi Karampour ( مهدی کرم‌پور ) is a graduate of cinema (film direction). After making more than 10 short films and grabbing some awards, Karampour made his debut feature, SOME OTHER PLACE in 2004. Internationally he is best known for his episode in TEHRAN TEHRAN – a film represented in Montreal, Sao Paulo, Mill Valley, etc.

Another Place is about that The story of three generations in Iran who are seeking somewhere else as their utopia. They are a number of young men and women who live in a villa under difficult conditions in order to emigrate secretly. Damoon, a reporter who has participated in the war, is in this group and struggles with his own mental conflicts. Raha, a young girl whose presence has put the group into danger, is pregnant, and in the absence of the baby's father, faces an uncertain future. Some people in the group believe that she should abort the baby but Raha resists to do so. Orang is a bisexual who tries to go London for treatment. Aila is a singer and music composer who believes that people in Iran do not take her seriously and she tries to emigrate to gain fame and popularity. Ghazal, Aila's fiancee, has joined this group because her family disagree with their marriage. Tara, a middle-aged woman graduated from a law school, has gone through an unsuccessful marriage with Mahmoud and is now wandered; so she has decided to emigrate too. Tavoosi is a mysterious man who is doing his job through his influence over the relatives and he is responsible for the group. When they are discussing about aborting or keeping Raha's baby, Damoon who loves Raha, expresses that he is ready to take care of Raha and her baby. They have a couple of hours before their trip, but a new problem arises. Tara goes into a struggle with Tavoosi and avoids going with them and leaves the island. After this event, Aila and Ghazal also go in a dispute and find out that they are not the proper choices for each other. The only person who is determined to board on the boat is Orang who has no other choice but to solve his physical issue.
