Born in Tehran in 1949, Majid Gharizadeh started his artistic career as photographer. In 1974, he joined Tehran’s Free Cinema and made his first 8mm. film entitled PAUSE. After making a number of short films, he made his debut feature, GRANDFATHER, in 1985 which was acclaimed and awarded in the 1st edition of Pyongyang Film Festival.
