The Red Card is about that 'The Red Card' focuses on one of the most complicated and controversial criminal cases in Iran's judiciary history. It follows the trail of 34-year-old woman Shahla Jahed, who in 2002 was arrested for the brutal murder of Laleh Saharkhizan, the wife of famous Iranian footballer Naser Mohammadkhani. In the film, director Mahnaz Afzalli powerfully conveys the circumstances surrounding the trial, including public responses to the murder, and the long-time love affair between Jahed and Mohammadkhani which led to the murder. Scenes from the court sessions, and honest moments of confession that bring taboos out into the open add to the drama of this fascinating documentary.
