Born in 1976 in Tehran, Hatef Alimardani is a
graduate of theatre (BA). He has co-directed a
number of short, documentary and animated films
– for instance THE BUTTERFLIES DIE HERE –
with Mohammad Lotfali. They also co-directed a
feature film, THE SECRET OF TARAN DESERT,
in 2010. A FUGITIVE FROM BAGBOO was
Alimardani’s solo directorial debut. Then he turned
to make dramas dealing with the social issues and
with FOR THE SAKE OF POUNEH and THE
NAMELESS ALLEY gained critical attention in
