Mohammad Khazaie began his career by script writing and directing in the theatre. He then joined the newspapers after studying Visual Arts. During the years 1997 to 1998 he directed the films "Praying Hands" and "The Song of Takestan" in which both drew a lot of attention to themselves in international film festivals. Khazaie was nominated for best film for the production of "Behind the Fog" in the Twenty Third Fajr Film Festival.
