Mania Akbari is a filmmaker and actress, born on the 22 September 1974 in Tehran, Iran. She started her career as a painter in 1991 and took part in various exhibitions in Iran and abroad. Akbari was exposed to film by working as a cinematographer in several documentaries. She is known for the participation as an actress in films such as 'Crystal' and '20 Fingers'. In 2007, Akbari was diagnosed with breast cancer which motivated themes in the following years.
