Born in 1953 in Tehran, Iraj Karimi ( ایرج کریمی ) studied Mechanical Engineering in Amir Kabir University, but started his career as a remarkable film critic due to his love for cinema. With his theoretical essays in FILM MAGAZINE, he established his position as a leading film critic between Iranian young film lovers. After directing TV series and movies, Karimi made his first feature film, GOING BY, in 2001. His third venture, KANDELOOS GARDENS (2004), wen ...t to become a cult film for the young generation. He passed away in 2015.

The Extraordinary Journey is about that Dr. Reza Kamali has a violent behavior with his son, Sina. He believes it as his educational method and has an emphasis on it. Kandaloos Gardens is about that Bijan, Ali and Saeed, tired of living in Tehran and trying to run away from the noise of the metropolis, head to Kandaloos region in the northern Iran to find peace. Their motivation to go to there is a young couple, Kaveh and Aban, who have died years ago and are buried in a not very well-known cemetery there. Bijan, Ali and Saeed are now after understanding the feelings and finding the secrets of the couple's journey, so they search for their grave from one cemetery to another. They also ask themselves how strong their love could be after all these years if they were still alive. When their car is pulled over due to a technical problem and a tow truck arrives to help them, they find the driver's face strange. He keeps talking about immortality of love and its relation to death; things that are not likely heard from a normal driver. In his company, who doesn't seem earthly, they think about immortality of love and come to the belief that death can sometimes be a blessing to immortalize love and the positive human virtues...
