Ebrahim Hatamikia was born in 1961 in Tehran. He began his directing career with 'The Identity' (1986) and several works about the Iran/Iraq War. His films have had a great reception at numerous Fajr International Film Festivals with Best Screenplay award for 'The Glass Agency' (1999), Best Directing for 'In the Name of the Father' (2006), two Crystal Simorghs and the Audience Choice Best Director for 'Be Range Arghavan' (2010), and two nominations for 'Che' (2014). 'The Red Ribbon' (1999) was screened and nominated for a Golden Seashell at the San Sebastian International Film Festival (Spain).
